Latest reviews of WESH 2 First Alert Weather app for iPhone and iPad
I find the weather radar app to be interesting and fun to use in observing all of the dynamic movements of weather patterns. The map overlays are interesting to use and gives different perspectives of the weather. The color coded effects of storms gives an easy to understand view of the severity of the storms that happen to roll through an area. Also the moving arrow overlay display of the winds aloft is fun as you can try and predict which way storms or weather patterns will move and interact. I also find the earthquake tracker is interesting to view as you can see where and how strong the earthquakes are and that always seem to occur around the perimeter of the Pacific, known as the Ring of Fire-makes sense I guess.
This app is very buggy. It freezes a lot. As for UI, Im not a fan at all of the "wheel" UI. I think the app should load on the radar screen and if you want forecasts, videos, etc you can tap the menu button in the top right. The "wheel" UI has to go!
Works fine on iPhone 5s but not 6
This app blows away the weather channels app and ALL the other weather apps in the app store and its free. Im very impressed. Id give it 6 stars if i could. Great job devs!! I have an iphone 6 and the alerts work fine. You need to TURN on the alerts so the guy who said alerts dont work simply doesnt know how to use his phone. Dont blame the app for your ignorance dude.
The weather app considers "breaking news" a message to tune in for weather broadcasts on evening or nighttime news. Disabling weather alerts to avoid this nonsense defeats the purpose of a weather alert. I want to know about approaching inclement weather, not that the 11 oclock news will have a weather broadcast. I am well aware that news broadcasts focus mainly on weather. Opening the app starts new frustrations with what WESH considers important. Despite being able to set which information panel appears first, the app determines that "Weather Headlines" are far more important to show to users. Examples of those important stories? "Read the Top Posts of the Day" "Tune in to WESH 2 for Weather Information" END RESULT: deleted!
